Mathilda is looking back.

Some time ago I read about an assignment in a tweet, where you are inspired to put the head of a person on an animal's body or vice-versa. I thought about it, but had no convincing idea.

Today I saw a photo taken by Alan Levine, where he imagined an eye in the blossom of a rose. I remembered to have read that we can interpret assignments in our own way and decided to rather put an eye into this rose picture than a head on a body.

Mathilda is looking back.

The eye picture for the montage I found on Thomas Seliger's website. Click here to get to the picture.

I loaded the rose picture and the eye as layers in Gimp and used some layer modes to make the eye melt with the rose. I also used layer masks to soften the edges of the eye picture. I merged the layers and exported the result as an image.

  1. I like the eye in the rose. It's like an alternate evolutionary path where the plants can see each other's colors. Or keep watch on us...

  2. You should write the story about the flowers watching us.
